The Number One Mistake We Made With Caitlyn Jenner And The LGBT Community

Throughout the 1980s and '90s, if you were a disabled kid growing-up in America, you faced a lot of gunk. That "gunk" was one that worked on more than one level, and it was one that crept its way onto the park slides, swings, drinking fountains...nearly any public facility or institution that anyone can think of.

My story is that I was born with arthrogryposis in 1984; that's not really that big of a deal, because through the e-verse, we've discovered that a lot of people are jacked-up physically. In fact, you can look over to your own mother and father, grandparents, siblings, nieces and nephews...nearly anyone, and you can see that no matter how "sexy" someone may be, they still have a lot of physical flaws on the surface, that are hidden in plain sight.

So, my thought this morning was about Caitlyn Jenner in particular, and anyone who knows me knows that I haven't had anything nice to say about her/him. To me, it's strange that a man identifies himself as a woman, but then the more I thought about it, the more I realized how I was doing the exact same thing as my oppressors, judging someone based on their differences. That's what my family and friends did wrong growing-up, and now I was repeating the same patterns.

Anyone who's ever met my mom, dad, ex-girlfriend...anyone who's ever met any of these people knows that they are not attractive when they first wake-up in the morning. Actually, if my parents and the Kardashians walked into a bathroom and took a shit in eight different toilets, all of them would produce the same odor, and that's because it's the same shit coming out of different asses, but an ass nonetheless.

This morning I practiced a little meditation, and through that I discovered that most of my memories drew back to "good 'ol America." "Good 'ol America" who invented the word, "Nigger." Good 'ol America who invented the word, "cripple." Good 'ol America, who had no problem, for nearly 200 years, objectifying women and sex, but then invented the words, "faggot" and "whore" to describe those individuals.

Growing-up, my dick would get a little hard when I was around some of my hot-looking cousins. But then I realized that they were family, and so I never acted on any of those impulses. But since Caitlyn Jenner is a tranny and Stephen Hawking is a "cripple," then where does that leave a heterosexual guy who wants to hump his own cousin?!

Then again, if Bruce Jenner is a "tranny," because he wants to dress as a woman, and if a guy who has sex with teenage girls is a "pedophile," then what man-made label would you give to a mother who abandons her disabled son? "Slut?" Well no, not a slut, because a "slut" is someone who has sex with several partners at once; personally, I've never met anybody like that!

Now a "coward" may be just a little more fitting, but then, what "coward?!" Some moms don't love their kids, and some heterosexual men simply don't like being men, and that's because they're uncomfortable with what they have. This morning, I've realized that Jenner and I have a little more in common then previously thought.

But Hollywood has labeled Caitlyn Jenner a "tranny;" why should she continue to give them publicity?! The entertainment industry blacklisted African American artists for years; why should artists like Marcus Nash and Jaleel White continue to give that sector a spotlight?!

And this morning, as I was writing this blog, I realized what my problem is: I am trying too hard to befriend my enemy. On that one molecule of thought, and only on that one, maybe Caitlyn Jenner and I should have a little talk!
